Tools & Technology

ETC uses a broad range of models, software, tools, and technology in support of modeling, simulation, analysis, and information systems efforts. Some of the key tools applied by ETC researchers and analysts include:

  • Dynamic System Mechanics Advanced Simulation (DYSMAS) - high fidelity underwater hydrocodes, premier tool for underwater explosion effects analysis; used in our mild traumatic brain injury efforts.

  • Multi Attribute Decision Making (MADM) -tool for selecting the option with the maximum overall utility from a finite number of alternatives; used in our UAV weaponization study.

  • LLNL thermo-chemical computer code (Cheetah) -a physics and chemistry-based computational tool that can reliably predict the performance of ideal and non-ideal high explosives and explosive formulations; used in energy release calculations.

  • Associative Database Management System (Relavance™ ADBMS) ; -used in our Taxonomy of Energetics.

  • (CTH) -family of codes developed at Sandia National Labs for modeling complex multi-dimensional, multi-material problems characterized by large deformations and/or strong shocks; used in our EOD support.
